Regional Industry Cluster Opportunity (RICO II) Grant
The Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) at Fresno State was awarded $158,013 from the California Workforce Investment Board for a Regional Industry Cluster of Opportunity II (RICO II) grant.
Through this grant, OCED will leverage existing partnerships in Kern County to bolster the expansion of an ecosystem that will support the emergence of an innovative, regional Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Industry Cluster in the San Joaquin Valley. Highlighting the workforce infrastructure already established by the Kern Community College District’s Clean Energy Center and Workplace Learning Resource Center, OCED will facilitate a process to replicate similar training programs between Workforce Investment Boards and Community Colleges in other counties of the San Joaquin Valley.
David Teasdale of Kern Community College District (KCCD) said this grant will allow the KCCD Clean Energy Center to work together with OCED and other partners to “further define and prioritize the needs of the emerging Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Industry in the San Joaquin Valley and identify the workforce training required to support the growth of the industry.”
